We don’t have cable, so I don’t really watch TV other than the occasional movie. So I’m not a fixer-upper fan, but I was browsing cookbooks on the online library catalog and thought I’d give it a try.

The Biscuits. Let’s just talk about the biscuits.
Our standard for biscuits in our house is very high, because my husband manages at a place that makes extraordinarily fluffy buttery delicious biscuits. My better homes and garden recipe was ok, but not special–I had all but given up on homemade biscuits.

Until. This. Recipe.

These biscuits are fluffy, buttery, delicious–perfect, absolutely perfect.

So after that recipe, I decided to try out a few others–the brownie pie with homemade crust (yum), the sausage hashbrown casserole (good but not special), and the guacamole (good but my improvised one is similar).

I’m working through some more recipes before I decide if I need to buy this cookbook ( I’ve tried tortilla soup, lemon pie, donuts, French toast, Dedication casserole). I’m very selective with what cookbooks I own (I own two: Better Homes and Gardens and Family Feasts for $75 a Week), so for a cookbook to earn a spot in my kitchen, it must be an extraordinary cookbook.

And, friends, I suspect this one is.
